Canada Drive

When Sergeant Stacy Wood isn't busy keeping aircraft flightworthy for the Royal Canadian Air Force, he can usually be found wrenching on his '67 SS.


"I found the car six years ago and had it delivered to my shop where I immediately tore into it." Some of the items were replaced while others were freshened up, but one of the bigger changes occurred under the hood. In place of the 350, now sits a blueprinted 406 with Dart heads, a full COMP roller valvetrain, and an Edelbrock carb/intake combination. Behind the engine sits an M21 Muncie connected to an 8.5-inch Nova rearend. The suspension was upgraded with QA1 coilovers and subframe connectors, while an AGR box tightened up the steering. The old brakes were replaced in favor of an SSBC disc brake conversion kit. Stacy and his wife, Sheri, love crusin' the '67 and hitting all the local car shows.

Fast Fifth-gen

Matt Sanders has been steadily transforming his '10 Camaro SS into the car of his dreams. As a Honda Master Technician for the past 24 years, he knows his way around a car but decided his own ride needed to be American muscle. The LS3 is topped with a Magnuson TVS2300 supercharger and a cold-air induction kit, coupled with some long-tube headers, help get the air in and out of the hungry engine in a more efficient fashion. The mods result in rear-wheel power numbers of 564 hp and 524 lb-ft of torque. The suspension was also tweaked with Pfadt adjustable coilovers, camber plates, and Hotchkis chassis stiffening braces. BMR trailing arms and adjustable toe links tighten up the rear. An RPS twin-disc clutch, DSS 1,400hp axles, and 3.91 gears transmit the power to the pavement. Body mods include a Havoc rear diffuser and reworked emblems. It all makes for one sweet fifth-gen any of us would be happy to drive.



We're always happy to see a late second-gen get the lovin' it deserves, so running Tony Cowin's Camaro was a no-brainer. He bought the F-body in late 2007 and dove right into restoring it. As Tony relayed, "my original plans were to 'just fix it up a little,' so I asked my wife if I could have the garage 'for a few weeks.' Being the understanding woman she is, she moved her pride (and car) out of the garage and in went the Camaro. It's never been parked outside since then!"


The car was pretty rusty, so almost every part has been replaced, including the framerails, which came from a donor car. In fact, the project got so involved that Tony built a rotisserie out of wood to get it all done. Hotchkis and Edelbrock parts were used to upgrade the suspension a bit, and the interior got all new soft parts and a set of Auto Meter gauges. The 350 was bored 0.040-inches over, filled with a Lunati hydraulic valvetrain, and topped with Vortec heads. A Holley 650 double-pumper pushes fuel and atmosphere into the mill through an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. Backing up the small-block is a Super T-10 trans that spins back to a posi rear with 3.73 gears. The exterior was massaged and given several coats of silver paint accented with black stripes. Tony recalled, "this was the first time I ever got this deep into a project. I did all the work myself, including all the welding, engine work, and paint. I also got some help from my brother along with your magazine and my friends over at nastyz28.com."
